Whats on in Nelson:

30 December 2019 - Richmond Market Day.  Join the Richmond business as they bring their specials out onto the street, and the many market stallholders from all around the country as they line Queen Street.  

31 December 2019 - New Years Eve Countdown. A full family programme of entertainment and performances on the Cathedral's Church Steps culminates with a KIDS COUNTDOWN and fireworks.

2 January - 5 January 2020 - Nelson Jazz Festival.  The diversity of acts in the line-up offers something for everyone. The festival continues in its familiar format, bookended by family-friendly Twilight Picnic Concerts, kicking off at Washbourn Gardens on the 2nd of January and wrapping up at Founders Park on the 5th. Each event features a mix of local and out-of-town bands to provide hours of great summer sounds!

3 & 4 January 2020 - Bay Dreams 2020 - Trafalgar Park.  Presented by Greenroom Vodka and The Edge, Bay Dreams will return in 2020 to Trafalgar Park in Nelson, on January 4, with international superstar Tyler, The Creator confirmed as a headliner, alongside other international names including Skepta; Yelawolf and Ella Mai.

10 January 2020 - Tahuna Summer Sounds.   Live music returns to Tahunanui Beach with local musicians performing across two different stages. Interactive beach-themed games and competitions complement the live music, with prizes up for grabs.Kick back, relax and enjoy the sounds of summer by the beach at this family-friendly festival.

If wet, the events will be rescheduled to the next day (Sat 11 & Sat 18 Jan).

15 February 2020 - Opera in the Park.  Nelson Opera in the Park returns to the city, with top New Zealand opera and contemporary singers alongside our national orchestra, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.        The programme includes:  Tami Neilson, Jason Kerrison, Joel Amosa and Eliza Boom.   PLUS Pre-Concert entertainment by Nelson City Brass.  Bring a picnic and soak up the atmosphere for this wonderful night of music in the open air.

16 February 2020 - Nelson Wine & Food Festival.  The Nelson Wine & Food Festival celebrates a showcase of Nelson wines, craft beers, ciders and juices. For the foodies, promotion of locally produced gourmet foods to tempt discerning taste buds. Hold onto your holiday groove, grab a friend and head to the Richmond Showgrounds for all-day entertainment. Be seated in the shade of the ‘olde” oak trees or grab a spot in the sun. 11am - 5pm.

14 March 2020 - Marchfest 2020.  Marchfest is a celebration of all things Craft Beer and an event for the whole family!  It will be held at Founders Park in Nelson - New Zealand’s main hop growing region (top of the South Island).

2020 highlights:
- Set in the historic village of Founders Heritage Park, Nelson
- 10 of the best Top of the South brews
- 5 specially selected NZ wide brews.
- Tasting bar
- Cool live music including (acts to be announced soon).
- Family-friendly entertainment, games and activities
- Local artisan food and a range of non-alcoholic beverages
- Option to join the Gourmet Beer and Food Matching Lunch.

Unlike ordinary beer festivals, all the beers available at MarchFest have been specially commissioned for the event and have never previously been tasted by the public.
